endurance lab
The elab is where your training starts.
Most athletes train on guesswork — zones estimated from a formula, fueling figured out mid-race. EPTC's eLab changes that. Before you train, you test. And what we find shapes everything: your zones, your pacing, your nutrition, your coaching plan.
WHY TESTING MATTERS
Knowing your VO2 max is useful. Knowing your lactate threshold is useful. But knowing how both interact with your race goal, your training history, and your fueling habits — that's what actually moves the needle. That's what EPTC's exercise physiologists do with your data.
TWO WAYS TO USE THE eLAB
Whether you train with us or on your own, the lab is where clarity starts.
Standalone testing
Come in for one assessment or a panel of tests. You'll leave with your data and a one-on-one consultation to understand what it means. Some athletes use this to calibrate their self-directed training. Others return seasonally to track progress.
Testing as the start of coaching
Every EPTC coaching program begins with lab testing — it's not optional, and that's intentional. Coaching without testing is guesswork. If you're considering working with a coach, a lab assessment is how that relationship starts.
Not sure which is right for you?
WHAT WE TEST
Every athlete deserves the right coach. Meet ours.
A team of multidisciplinary coaches, thoughtfully matched to every athlete we work with.
-
A foundational metabolic test for athletes who want to stop training on estimates. We measure your VO₂ max, anaerobic threshold, FATmax, and training zones using a graded exercise test on a bike, treadmill, or rower. You'll leave with a complete picture of your aerobic fitness, how your body uses fat versus carbohydrate at different intensities, and training zones that are actually calibrated to your physiology — not a formula. If you're just getting started with data-driven training, this is where to begin.

"I went to Tim to help me get ready for an ultra-endurance bicycle race, Race Across America (RAAM) in 2014 and later in 2016 for Race Across the West (RAW). Not discounting that I was a member of a team effort for those races, it was imperative to be ready and at my peak performance just before the races.
The bottom line is that both races were highly successful.
We crossed the 3,000 miles from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis MD in 6 1/2 days to get 4th place in our division.
And two first places in our division for RAW (Oceanside, CA to Durango, CO, 930 miles) in 2016 and 2017.2 days, 5 hours and 2 days, 3 hours respectively.
Without Tim's guidance I doubt that would have been an outcome. And I highly recommend him if you are serious about either getting in shape or training for an upcoming event."

"After completing 3 ironman events, multiple marathons and half irons, I felt pretty good and thought my fitness was optimized. However, I wanted to find out why, after pushing my training level to what I perceived to be my maximum effort, I wasn't making more progress on my fitness.
The information I obtained from the lab at Endurance has been of great benefit to my training.
With work and family commitments, ironman training used to take over the rest of my life. I'm training less now, but more efficiently, and my fitness has never been better.
Working with Endurance Team has been a life changer for me."

"Training at Endurance has revolutionized my cycling. The data driven (from my own test results in the lab) and personalized workouts make the classes the most effective 90 minutes you can spend on the bike. The results: I recently completed a double century in under 11 hours compared to riding Levi's Gran Fondo pre-Endurance in an excruciating 9 hours; my body composition has changed from 32% to 18% body fat; even my cycling technique has greatly improved - the bottom line is that 1 am having the most fun I have ever had on the bike!"
